Designed with Humble Intentions
First introduced in 1964, the famous Breitling Top Time watches were designed to be simple and stylish pieces suited for young men living active lifestyles. To live up to their goal, Breitling made the watches larger, more durable, and with a tachymeter scale (useful for measuring speed and distance).
Becoming a Classic
As fashionable as they were useful, Top Time watches grew popular among professional athletes, pilots and racecar drivers around the world. For instance, Olympic skier Jean-Claude Killy famously wore a 1765 Top Time watch the year he won three gold medals. However, it wasn't until Sean Connery wore an 810 Top Time in 007's "Thunderball", that the watch series became immortalized in pop culture. Soon after, the watches became recognized as a classic and would pretty much sell themselves. They sold so well, in fact, that Breitling continued to produce them for nearly two decades to meet the demand. To this day, the Top Time chronograph series remains a cultural icon... and is still as fashionable as it was in 1964.
